Craft Recordings celebra el centenario de Wes Montgomery con la edicin ampliada y remasterizada de su clsico ‘Full House’.
El legendario guitarrista naci en 1923 en Indianpolis, donde se crio junto a sus hermanos, el pianista y vibrafonista Buddy y el bajista Monk, con quienes form The Montgomery Brothers tras haber sido parte de la big band de Lionel Hampton. A finales de la dcada de los 50s, firm para la mtica etiqueta Riverside que public su debut, ‘A Dynamic New Sound: Guitar/Organ/Drums’, en 1959.
Tras asistir a muchas de sus actuaciones en clubs de jazz e impresionado por sus ejecuciones en directo, Orrin Keepnews (fundador y productor de Riverside) decidi reservar una noche en Tsubo- una cafetera de Berkeley donde tocaban cantautores folk, artistas de blues, … no habitual en el circuito jazz- para grabarla en directo delante de pblico. El 25 de junio de 1962, se celebr el concierto con Montgomery rodeado por Johnny The Little Giant Griffin al saxo tenor, Wynton Kelly al piano, Paul Chambers al bajo y Jimmy Cobb a la batera- estos tres ltimos reconocidos miembros de la seccin rtmica de Miles Davis. El lbum original con seis cortes se edit en noviembre de ese mismo ao bajo el ttulo ‘Full House’
y ha sido reeditado en contadas ocasiones incorporando tomas alternativas como ‘The Complete Full House Recordings’.
Esta versin definitiva incorpora dos cortes inditos hasta la fecha: una versin de ‘Full House’ con el solo de Wes restaurado y una segunda toma alternativa de ‘S.O.S.’. Los catorce cortes han sido completamente restaurados y masterizados desde las cintas analgicas originales por Joe Tarantino y en su versin vinilo cuenta con nuevos lacquers ejecutados por Kevin Gray en Cohearent Audio. Disponible en 2CD (SofPak con libreto) y 3LP (vinilos 180g negros en carpeta gatefold)- ambas versiones incluyen nuevos textos del periodista Bill Milkowski.
