El colectivo norteamericano Butcher Brown publica su quinto lbum oficial, Butcher Brown Presents Triple Trey (featuring Tennishu and R4ND4ZZO BIGB4ND) va Concord Jazz.
El colectivo se form en Richmond (VA) hace una dcada como tro, DJ Harrison (teclas), Andrew Randazzo (bajo) y Corey Fonville (batera), pronto pasaron a quinteto con Marcus Tenney (MC) y Morgan Burrs (guitarra) con cuartel general en el estudio analgico Jellowstone de Harrison donde grabaron su debut de 2014 ‘All Purpose Music’. El boca a boca les permiti saltar el charco ayudados por las excelentes crticas de su segundo largo y firmar con el sello Gearbox y compartir escenarios con Kamasi Washington. En 2018 la edicin de Camden Session, disco cortado directamente en los estudios de Mark Ronson, les abri las puertas del mtico sello Concord donde debutaron en 2020 con el aclamado #KingButch.
Originalmente Butcher Brown Presents Triple Trey fue compuesto y producido por el MC y multiinstrumentista Tennishu como un lbum de hip hop a modo de oda a The Notorious B.I.G., pero desde entonces ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en la oda eclctica de Butcher Brown al jazz de big band, su primera incursin en el gnero. Este disco es pionero por su enfoque del jazz clsico, unindose a la banda diez msicos de Richmond bajo el nombre de R4ND4ZZO BIGB4ND para crear un collage de suites de jazz en un lbum de hip-hop y, al mismo tiempo, fusionando elementos soul, funk o las influencias del rock que han formado la identidad musical de la banda.
