Austra haba entregado hasta ahora tres lbumes y realizado centenares de conciertos en su primera dcada de carrera. Ella escribi, produjo e interpret todos sus propios lbumes, compartiendo ocasionalmente el centro de atencin con una banda para hacer una gira de directos. Desde el exterior, las cosas iban realmente bien por un tiempo: construy una base de fans devotos e hizo sold out en varios shows en todo el mundo. Sin embargo, por dentro, Stelmanis comenzaba a sentirse estancada y sin inspiracin. “Estaba perdiendo la fe en mis propias ideas”, explica. Sin darse cuenta, se vio atrapada en una relacin txica que la estaba destrozando.
