El neoyorquino Meechy Darko, miembro del super tro de hip-hop Flatbush Zombies, debuta en solitario con ‘Gothic Luxury’ va Loma Vista / Concord.
Darko form, junto a Zombie Juice y Erick Arc Elliott, Flatbush Zombies en 2010, nombrando al grupo Flatbush por el barrio de Brooklyn donde crecieron. El tro public su primer sencillo, ‘Thug Waffle’, a principios de 2012 dejando claro su peculiar estilo gracias a los descarnados gruidos de Darko, el arrogante alarde vocal de Zombie Juice y las relajadas pero poderosas lneas al bajo de Erick Arc Elliott. Tras colaborar con A$AP Mob, the Underachievers y Joey Bada$$, el tro pas a formar parte del colectivo Beast Coast en 2013. En 2016, Flatbush Zombies debutaron en largo con ‘3001: A Laced Odyssey’ que alcanz el #10 en el Billboard 200 y en 2018 publicaron su segundo disco, ‘Vacation in Hell’, que logr ser #9.
Para Meechy Darko abandonar su zona de confort para crear Gothic Luxury fue un hecho consumado forzado por causas ajenas tras el asesinato de su padre a manos de la polica de Miami a principios de 2020. Los trece cortes del lbum estn repletos de extensas intros a piano y tranquilas bases funk que se funden con oscuras mini sinfonas, y han sido producidos por Dot da Genius (Kid Cudi, Jhen Aiko, Lil Nas X o Denzel Curry) y mezclados por el ganador Grammy Neal H. Pogue (Macy Gray, Robyn, Tyler The Creator). Gothic Luxury marca una lnea de honestidad brutal y catarsis para Darko pero le muestra como uno de los ms puros y sinceros raperos de la escena.
