The Last Dinner Party comenta sobre el nuevo lbum: Este disco es una coleccin de historias, y el concepto de lbum como mito las une. ‘The Pyre’ es un lugar alegrico donde se originan estas historias, un lugar de violencia y destruccin, pero tambin de regeneracin, pasin y luz.
Las canciones estn impulsadas por los personajes, pero siguen siendo profundamente personales, un suceso cotidiano llevado a un extremo patolgico. Ser ignorado se convierte en una danza del Oeste con un asesino, y el desamor se re del apocalipsis. Las letras invocan rifles, guadaas, marineros, santos, vaqueros, inundaciones, la Madre Tierra, Juana de Arco e infiernos abrasadores. Nos pareci que este tipo de imgenes evocadoras era la forma ms honesta y veraz de hablar de nuestras experiencias, dndole a cada una la carga emocional que merece.
